When raising awareness and funds for Movember’s men’s health partners – The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and Beyond Blue it helps when you have a charismatic host such as DJ Eddy from Mt. Hotham. Who with a fully maintained moustache, short-shorts, a leopard/snakeskin/tiger/zebra pattern shirt, leather boots and a comb-over hair do, while offering free prostate checks and wild jokes you could never expect, the aim of was successfully achieved when about two hundred people attended the Peninsula Mo-Down at God’s Kitchen on Friday night.

Mo’s came from all over the Peninsula to battle out the hairy-lipped cause with funky beats from T-Dub vs. The Rhythm Organism playing loud within the holy walls. Finalists lined the dance floor, with a combination of the crowd, DJ Eddy and sassy lady judges to decide the best Movember Mos among the Mo-Bros. Joel Reid took out the best straight Mo, Shannon Roche winning the best chopper Mo and lamest Mo awarded to Tim Dunlop with the Mo-sista award going to Karla Sutcliffe followed by a rocking set of indy/garage tunes by Brain Juice and Scoots.

All prize winners took home plenty of awesome prizes from our product sponsors, but the grand raffle of the evening where a new Spikas Retro Surfboards single fin and an un-ridden 80’s Kemper snowboard was drawn and won by Jackson, who apparently spent over $50 on tickets throughout the night, he said “I’m so happy, this is better than winning the lotto!” stoked with his two new shred sleds.

“It’s a great cause to be apart of, from sponsors to artists to mo friends, everyone is really happy to support men’s health, I can’t wait till next year” said Robbie Warden, Event Organiser.

Art works by Cam Stynes, Shafiq Monis, Emma Phillips, Josh Brown, Robbie Warden, Josh Meyer and Mark Howlett are on display and for sale over the next two weeks so go enjoy some delicious food and drinks while checking out some local imagery at God’s Kitchen.
Thanks very much to the Peninsula Mo-Down sponsors Spikas Retro Surfboards, Dakine, Futures Fins, Lost Clothing, Famous, Trigger Brothers, Balin, Insight, James Boags, Freixenet, all the friendly staff, Vanessa and Paul at Gods Kitchen, Mo-sistas Sarah, Mel and Karla, musicians T-Dub, The Rhythm Organism, Brain Juice and Scoots, and finally the Movember Foundation.
